It is an interactive visualisation depicting “past”, “present” and possible “future” scenarios of oil spills in world’s oceans; and threats which oil rigs and tankers carry while scattered all over the planet. Based on Google Earth API, it take live data visualisation of oil tankers and oil rigs and juxtaposition it together with the 10 worst spills in the history put together with data of energy consumption (and therefore need for oil) all over the world. "Oil Compass v.1" was produces in V2_ in Rotterdam as a part of Protei development – unmanned drone which can clean waters – brainchild of @Cesarharada

The center of circulation for tropical depression Bonnie was located about 15 miles (24 km) south-southeast of the Macondo well site when this CSK-1 radar satellite image (black-and-white) was taken, at 6:44 pm local time. Weather station 42364, on the Ram-Powell oil platform about 27 miles (43 km) northeast of the Macondo well, recorded sustained wind speed of 22 mph (10 m/s) at that time. A station on the Thunder Horse oil platform about 39 miles (63 km) south of the well recorded winds at 11 mph (5 m/s).
Radar images show the "roughness" of the ocean’s surface, revealing the pattern of Bonnie’s counterclockwise-circulating winds. The strongest winds are generally in the northeast quadrant of cyclones in the northern hemisphere. This is reflected by the overall gray tone in the radar image: the area of stronger winds north and east of the storm’s center is brighter than the area to the south and west.
Two distinct storm bands are also apparent; these are lines of strong thunderstorms with gusty winds. A narrow line of oil slick is also visible – possibly related to the BP / Deepwater Horizon spill, although we think most of the slick and sheen from that spill is obscured on this radar image by the strong wind conditions.
The color backdrop is a MODIS / Aqua image taken the same day, July 24, at about 1 pm local time.

They have been drilling relief wells but it takes time.

I’m stuck with this one part of my story where my main character is explaining about ‘the rot’ it’s the first wave that rose out of the grave and infected the others. but i don’t know a good reason for them rising. i thought about putting in that bp had another really bad but radio-active oil spill but it sounds stupid. has anyone out there got any ideas?
I don’t want it so it’s like all like “zomg this guy is taking over the world and rising the dead from the grave and such” my story is based around five people kicking zombie ass. and then eventually there’s only two left. I was going for a natural reason why. But I want to add detail to the story as well. and my main character (Alex) has a crush on the guy that doesn’t like her (Gene), but the other three do (Sam, Garrick and Cody).
@Mary it’s awesome that your into zombie lore, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I’ve already started to write the bit where she’s explaining what happened and i cant see the story going anywhere without this part of it and i wanted to make it similar to Zombieland but in my own style.

Inhabitants of riverside communities report the smell is nauseating and can be detected as far as a kilometer away from river banks. River communities, whose livelihoods depend on fishing, fear they’ll run out of food and will have nothing to sell. Authorities are concerned there will be a shortage of fish in markets and are more concerned by possible threats to public health, especially in communities that also use river water for bathing and drinking, but also fear contaminated or decaying fish may end up in market stalls. They’ve begun a campaign to ensure market vendors and the public know how to tell the difference between fresh and unhealthy fish.
BP Tries To Escape Compensating Gulf Residents
Oil giant BP is paying Washington-based law firm Feinberg Rosen 0000 a month to administer a billion compensation fund and claims process for Gulf residents and fishermen affected by the Deepwater Horizon explosion last April. The Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF), which Feinberg manages, was set up after negotiations between BP and the Obama administration, but over recent months there has been growing concern among the Coast’s residents that Feinberg is limiting compensation funds to claimants in order to decrease BP’s liability.
